Welcome to Jane C. Probst Child and Family Counseling, PLLC

Welcome to Jane C. Probst Child and Family Counseling, PLLC, a safe and respectful environment to meet the mental health needs of all family members within our 5 county area of Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange and Rappahannock. Jane's priority in working with families is based in meeting people "where they are", emotionally and developmentally, respectful of their culture and family structure. Her ability to listen respectfully, allowing individuals to express themselves without judgement is part of her strength-based, client-led perspective, tapping into the individual's and family's strengths.

Jane is a committed member of the community with a passion for working with families to improve lives and help individuals follow their natural instincts of self-determination toward optimal health, in body, mind, and spirit. In particular, Jane is a skilled and well-respected psychotherapist, working with individuals of all ages who experienced trauma.

Traumatic events happen to us all and can negatively impact our ability to experience joy, restricting our capacity to love and care for ourselves. It is particularly devastating for infants and toddlers as trauma negatively restricts early brain development, as in the cases of abuse and neglect. Jane's Sensory Integration therapeutic techniques address trauma symptoms, behaviors, and negative self-beliefs to promote true healing.

As a Virginia Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Jane is Certified and Consultant-in-Training in Brainspotting, Certified Clinical Traumatic Professional Levels 1 & 2 (Registered with Evergreen Certifications) , and Certified Safe and Sound Protocol Clinician.  Jane is trained in SMART (Sensory Motor Arousal Regulation Therapy), a modality for children with self-regulation and body awareness deficits, and trained as a Home Coach with Integrated Listening Systems FOCUS Program.

Jane graduated from George Mason University with a B.A. in Psychology.  She received an MSW from Virginia Commonwealth University, specializing in Clinical Social Work with a primary focus on the treatment and recovery of individuals who experienced emotional and psychological trauma. She serves as a Mental Health Representative to the Culpeper County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court Best Practices Committee, where she advocates for trauma-informed systems and agencies within our 5 county community. Additionally, Jane focuses on Early Childhood Intervention and is keenly aware of the lifelong importance of promoting secure attachments between infants and their caregivers.
